Grandmother’s Prayer for November 30th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, in 2 Chronicles 25:9, Amaziah worried about the money he had already spent. You told him the lost money was not the largest concern. The right alliance was. You can give much more than you lose. Lord, that word reaches me this winter. The bank fee that should not have happened is real. The appointment that fell through is real. The gift that went unappreciated is real. Each one is a small grief. None of them is the largest concern. The right relationship with You is the largest. The right alliances in my family are the largest. The right priorities in the days I have left are the largest. So when the small losses come, help me ask the larger question first. What is at stake besides the small loss? You are at stake. Your faithfulness is at stake. Walk me through this last day of November with that priority in place. You can give much more than the small loss. The bigger faithfulness is what matters. Amen.

- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
