Grandmother’s Prayer for November 28th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, John the apostle rejoiced when he heard that someone he loved was walking in the truth. That is the kind of joy I know too. The phone call from my daughter, who said she had returned to church. The visit from my grandson, who said he had been reading the gospel. The card from my friend who wrote that her son had come back to You. Each one filled me up. Lord Jesus, this is the joy You give to those who have believed for a long time. Not a joy in what I have done. A joy in seeing the next generation walk in Your truth. Help me rejoice today. Let me write to my granddaughter and tell her I am glad she keeps the Sunday habit. Let me thank my friend whose grandson is studying for ministry. Let me lift up every name on my list and simply be glad for what You are doing in their lives. Amen.
