Grandmother’s Prayer for November 25th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Lord Jesus, You came to preach freedom to the captives. You said so in Your first sermon. You read the words of Isaiah and said they were coming true. Father, the things that hold me now are not the same as when I was young. I am not in a prison cell. But I am stuck in other ways. Old grudges I cannot quite let go. Old habits of thinking the same tired thoughts. Old ways of protecting myself that no longer work. Old fears about losing what I have left. Each one is a small captivity. Lord Jesus, You do not just name the prison. You announce that it is over. The captives in Your hearing have permission to walk out. Today, let me hear that announcement. Let me walk out of one cell. The fear of being a burden. Or the small grudge I keep nursing. Or the worry about the lab results. Whichever one You point to first, help me unlock the door and walk out. You preach the good news. You give the power to walk. Walk me into this day with one less cell holding me. The deliverance is real. The cells are not the last word. Amen.
