Grandmother’s Prayer for November 20th

A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Lord Jesus, You are my Advocate. You have already pleaded the case for my soul. The verdict is in, and it was not my words that won — it was Yours.

There have been times when the case against me looked strong. Enemies spoke. My own heart accused me. The weight of every failure pressed in. I had no defense to offer. But You spoke for me. You stood for me. You won.

The pleading at the cross was the great plea. The pleading at Your Father's right hand is the continuing plea. You have argued for the cases I never could have argued for myself. The Judge accepted Your plea. My soul is safe.

Today, let me rest on that verdict. Walk me through this Sunday — through the quiet, through the ordinary hours, through whatever is ahead — from inside the peace that is already settled.

The Advocate still pleads. The peace is settled.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
