Grandmothers
Grandmother’s Prayer for November 18th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word says the bride is like a spring shut up, a fountain sealed. That picture speaks to me in this season of life. Not stiff. Not cold. But set apart, and held in trust for You alone.
Lord Jesus, the world wants to drain old people dry. It wants our opinions on everything. It pries open the private places. It treats the inner life like something to share with everyone.
But You call me to something different. A sealed fountain. A spring kept for the right Drinker.
Today let me hold something back for You. Not in pride. In love. The most honest prayer of the morning, said quietly here and not shared. The deepest worry, brought to You first and not aired in the family group chat. The most precious Thanksgiving, kept between us.
The fountain is sealed for the Beloved. The Beloved drinks from it. This reserve is not stinginess. It is honor.
Amen.
