Grandmother’s Prayer for November 17th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, I come to the end of a hard chapter in Your Word. My mind gets tired. The big ideas are heavy. I do not read the way I did when I was young. But the chapter ends in praise. And that is where I want to land. Lord, my own questions have slowed me down. The big things still come, but I do not have the strength to work them through like I used to. So let this be my soft place to rest. After the work, the praise. I do not need all the answers to praise You. You are the One who has them. Today, let me end my morning the way this chapter ends - with praise. With my own small song of glory, said in the empty kitchen. To You be glory forever. The chapter ends. The day begins. And the praise goes on. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
