Grandmother’s Prayer for November 15th

A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Word says that Your portion is Your people. You chose us. The whole world is Yours, but You picked us to be Your own.

This is good news for me today. The world is big. The noise is loud. Things move faster than I do. I am an old woman in a small apartment. But Your Word says I am part of Your portion. You chose me. You chose all of us who belong to You as Your share of the human race.

That is a high and holy place to stand. Help me not forget who I am today. Walk me through this day as one who belongs to You. I will not be ashamed of my age. I will not be afraid of my smallness. The King's portion is not a small thing.

You have the old woman from the small apartment in Your share. Walk me through this ordinary day as Your daughter. My place is sure. My dignity is real.

Amen.

  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
