Grandmother’s Prayer for November 8th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, You told me to keep walking the way I started. I started by receiving. Not by earning. Not by fixing myself. By receiving. Lord Jesus, the day I first received You was simple. I had nothing to offer. You gave. I took. That is still how it works. Today, I receive the morning's verse. I receive the cup of coffee in my hands. I receive the voice on the phone. I receive this quiet time with You. None of it is earned. All of it is given. Forgive me for the days I trade receiving for striving. Forgive me for trying to manage my life instead of taking what You give. I do not want to work my way through the day. I want to receive my way through it. So walk me through this day with open hands. Let me take what You give and then give it back in love. The receiving still works. Amen.

- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
