Grandmothers
Grandmother’s Prayer for November 5th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Isaiah 54:17 says no weapon formed against me will prosper. The weapons are still real. Old guilt still comes at three in the morning. Old failures still show up at family gatherings. Old doubts still try to undo years of believing. None of them is new. None of them will win. Your Word promises it. Lord Jesus, this is not a magic shield. The weapons may still come. But they will not finally cut me down. You stood between them and me. They broke on You. Whatever still lands today will land lightly because You took the worst of it. Help me hold Your promise in front of the next inward accusation. Not as a chant. As a quiet fact. The weapon is real. It is also defeated. I am not under condemnation. I am hidden in You. The peace You promise is the peace of someone whose battle has already been won by Someone else. Walk me through this next day in that settled place. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
