Grandmother’s Prayer for October 23rd
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Lord Jesus, You once asked Your friends, Will You also go away? Peter answered for them all. Lord, where would we go? You alone have the words of eternal life. There is nowhere else. Father, I have faced that same question in my own quiet ways over the years. There are hard parts of Your Word I do not fully understand. There are prayers I have prayed that You have not answered the way I asked. There have been long seasons when my faith felt dry and faint. In all of it, I keep coming back to Peter's answer. There is nowhere else. No one else has the words of eternal life. The hard times did not give me a better choice. They only showed me that there was not one. Lord Jesus, I do not have all the answers I wish I had. I do not know why some prayers go unanswered. I do not know why some people I loved have walked away. I do not know why the world is the way it is. But I know this. The alternative is worse. There is no other shore. There is no other Bread. There is no one else I would trust in my old age. Where else would I go? Nowhere. So I stay. Walk me through this ordinary Thursday in that simple stay. Amen.
