Grandmother’s Prayer for October 22nd

A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, You said in Hosea 14:4 that You will love us freely. No cost. No earning. No conditions first. This is the love I have leaned on for decades. The kind I could not make for myself. The kind that did not wait for me to be lovable. The kind that started before I was even looking for it. Lord, I have wanted to love that way too. I have tried and failed. I love my grandchildren without limits, but I have not always loved others that way. Today, let me love one person freely. Without a record. Without a but. Without counting what they have earned. Maybe it is the daughter-in-law who has been hard to love for years. Let the love come from You, not from me. You have been pouring Your love into me for so long. Let it flow through me to her. Love her, through me, freely. Then walk me into the rest of this week lighter than I have been. Amen.
