Grandmother’s Prayer for September 30th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, I come to You at the end of September with a thin voice and a slow morning. Psalm 66:2 says to make Your praise glorious. I cannot do it with a big voice. But I can do it with my attention. Yesterday You gave me a small visit from my neighbor. This week, the autumn light started to angle differently through my window. On Sunday, a Bible passage landed on me and stayed. Each one is glorious if I name it to You. Lord, take my small praising today. Not a general “Thank You” for everything. A particular “Thank You” for the specifically remembered. You do not need my eloquence. You want my attention. Help me pay attention. Let September close with a specific, named, glorious praising — the only kind a small grandmother in a small apartment can offer, and the only kind You ask of her. Amen.
