Grandmother’s Prayer for September 27th

A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Word says Your people are happy because they are saved by the Lord. That happiness is not just a good mood. It is who I am. I belong to You. You saved me long ago, and that has not changed.

Lord Jesus, some days feel bright. Some days do not. But the joy You give is deeper than my Tuesday. It is the quiet knowing that I am Yours and that You have spared me more than I can count.

The country I live in. The family I came from. The day You saved me. The marriage I had. The grandchildren I now hold. None of it was owed to me. All of it was mercy.

Settle me in that deep joy today. Let my surface day be what it will be. The salvation underneath does not change with the morning weather.

Make me a happy woman in the right sense. Not perky. Not bright at all costs. Happy in the deep way — saved by the Lord, aware of it, and at rest in it.

Amen.

  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
