Grandmothers
Grandmother’s Prayer for September 8th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word says that from You my fruit is found, not from me, not from my own work, but from You.
Lord, I have seen fruit I cannot explain. My grown children are walking with You, even when I know I did not do everything right. My marriage, which was hard at the start, has become one of the steadiest gifts of my life. Friendships have lasted far longer than I had any reason to expect. These things are not my doing. The roots go back to You.
This year has felt quieter. I do not see much fruit I can point to. But You said the fruit comes from You. Even in a small year, You are still at work. Keep me like a quiet tree, Lord. Do not let me keep count of my own branches. You are the One who tends the orchard. You know what is growing.
Let me stay rooted in You. Let whatever fruit shows up be Yours to bring forward. That is enough for this slower season.
Amen.
