Grandmothers
Grandmother’s Prayer for July 26th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word tells me to add to my faith. Add virtue, add knowledge, add patience, and so much more. I have walked with You for many years, and the list still asks me to grow. The word that catches me today is diligence. The temptation at my age is to coast. My faith is in place. My Bible reading is in place. My Sunday rhythm is in place. But am I still adding? Or am I just keeping what I already have on the shelf? Today, let me add one small thing. A more honest prayer. A new truth from this morning's reading. A bit of patience with the slow line at the store. A bit of kindness toward someone I have written off. Lord, help me keep adding. I cannot do this in my own strength. When the day comes that the adding stops, let it be because You have brought me home, not because I gave up. Until then, keep me growing. Amen.

- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
