Grandmothers
Grandmothers Prayer for July 19th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your people once said You had shown them Your glory and Your greatness, after the mountain shook with fire and cloud. They had seen something real. At my age, I have seen something too. Not in fire. Not on a mountain. But in the slow glory of years at home, children raised, some still walking with You, a church that taught me to read the Bible, and many small prayers that seemed unanswered but turned out better than I would have planned. I do not need another Sinai. I have enough in memory to feed me for whatever days are left. Today, help me speak of Your past glory out loud to the people around me, and to myself in the quiet hours. You showed us Your glory. I have seen it. The seeing was real, even when the season was hard. Make me a quiet witness to what I have seen, not a complainer about what I do not see this morning. Keep me grateful for the mountain I have already stood on. Amen.
