Grandmothers
Grandmother’s Prayer for June 21st
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, I hold Your Son's words close this morning. He asked that those You gave Him be with Him where He is, to see His glory. John 17:24. That is my hope, too. To be with Him. To see the glory You gave Him before the world began.
I have not seen it yet, not face-to-face. I have only seen glimpses. The open Bible in front of me. The faces of believers I have known over the years. But the full sight is still ahead.
There is a grandchild whose face I will not see at my graveside, because she will be too small to remember. But if she belongs to You, she will see her own version of this hope one day. And we will meet in the place the Lord prayed for.
Let me hold this verse like a deed to a home I have not visited yet. The deed is signed in His blood. The visit is coming. Being with Him is the destination.
Let my looking ahead be steady, not restless. And let that hope warm this ordinary day.
Amen.
