Grandmother’s Prayer for June 15th

A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Lord, You know all things. You know that I love You.

That is what Peter said after he had failed. Jesus asked him three times, not because He needed to know, but because Peter needed to say it. I understand that. There are still moments when You bring me back to the place of saying it again.

You have known my love for a long time. The saying is not for You. It is for me. It clears away the noise of the day and shows me what is true inside.

Let the saying be quiet this morning. The failures of my younger years are forgiven. My love is real, even when it is uneven. You know.

You told Peter to feed Your lambs. I will too, in the small ways I can, today.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
