Grandmother’s Prayer for June 8th

A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father,

Your Word tells of a battle long ago. The tribes cried out, and You fought for them. They did not win by their own strength. They won because You were on their side.

I have smaller battles in my life. They are quiet, but they are real.

The war to speak truth when it would be easier to stay silent. The war to pray without fear when the news is heavy. The war to stay kind to people who are hard to love. The war to keep believing in a grandchild who is far from You.

None of these are fought with swords. All of them matter to You.

Help me remember the war is Yours. The plan is Yours. The outcome is Yours.I am only asked to stay where You have put me and do the small thing in front of me.The big moves are Yours. The small obediences are mine.

The war is Yours. The victory is sure.Let me serve today with quiet confidence.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
