Grandmothers
Grandmother’s Prayer for June 3rd
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, You promised that those You bless can live at peace with the world around them. The stones are not enemies. The beasts are not threats. You made a world that can be a friend to Your people.
This morning, the world feels at peace with me. The cardinal is at the feeder. The maple is steady. The light is even. My body is doing what I ask of it. Even the stones in the small path outside are laid out in a friendly way. Help me notice.
There have been seasons when the world felt like war. Small troubles grew too large in my mind. But today is not that day. Today, the peace is simple and near.
When the harder days come again, help me remember that You are still making all things right in the end. But for today, let me enjoy the small peace You have given. Help me not to poison it by inventing trouble that has not come.
Amen.
