Grandmother’s Prayer for June 2nd

A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, You see the quiet sorrows I carry. The small griefs that are not big enough to tell anyone about. The things I cannot fix or get back. You see them all. You have seen them all along. I do not have to pretend they are gone. Help me let You see them again today. Then help me listen for what You said next, about sending the Comforter. He is sent for sorrows like this one. The sorrow is noticed. The Comforter is on the way. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray
