Grandmothers
Grandmothers Prayer for May 26th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father,
Peter wrote to people who were suffering for Your name. They faced real danger. I am not facing that. But I do feel the small hard things that come from following You in a world that does not always understand. I feel the ordinary aches of a body that is growing older, but still wants to obey.
You tell me to rejoice, not because the pain is good, but because it connects me to Jesus. He suffered the great suffering. My small share is not random. It is not pointless. It is tied to Him. That is honor, not shame.
So today I gladly take the small share. The stiff joint that did not used to hurt. The quiet tiredness that comes from being old in a young world. The simple faithfulness of showing up when it would be easier to stop.
None of these is large. But all of them are sharing in Christ, in the small ways available to a woman in this kitchen.
Let me receive this sharing with the rejoicing Peter named. He knew what he was talking about. So do I, by Your grace.
Amen.
