Grandmother’s Prayer for May 23rd
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, You promised that the suffering Servant would see what His pain bought and be satisfied. Isaiah 53:11 says it this way: “He will see the fruit of His suffering and be glad.”
The suffering was real. The gladness is real too. You see the people Your Son died for. You see them being saved through the years. You see them gathered in at last.
I am one of the ones You see. That fact humbles me. I am not a big return on such a great cost. I am a small part of a great love. But You do not measure me alone. You see all Your people together, and You are glad.
I am part of that gladness. The grandchildren I pray for, if they belong to You, are part of it, too. The friends I have loved and lost, and placed in Your hands are part of it as well.
Let me live today as a daughter who knows she is part of the joy that kept Jesus on the cross. The joy is real. The seeing is real. The gladness is Yours.
By Your mercy, I am on Your list. Let that be a glad truth in this kitchen this morning. The Servant is satisfied. The people He bought are being kept. The accounts are settled.
Amen.
