Grandmothers
Grandmother’s Prayer for May 16th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, he shall glorify me. John 16:14.
Father, this verse is Your Son talking about Your Spirit. The Spirit's work is to lift up Jesus — to make Him real and near to the people He comforts. He is not on the sidelines. He has been glorifying Your Son in the small, quiet ways, and my faith has been kept and grown.
Let that happen again today. Let the Spirit make this morning's chapter come alive. Let Jesus look more lovely to me in the words I read. Let Him prove true in what I see in the world. Let Him be steady and reliable in the practical questions I am bringing to Him.
He does this without fanfare. He has been doing it my whole life. I do not have to manage any of it. I only get to take part — and I am grateful.
Let the Spirit glorify the Son in this kitchen this morning. Let Jesus be the One I see when I open the chapter. You, Father, will be pleased. And this ordinary day will be filled with Your presence.
Amen.
