Grandmothers
Grandmother’s Prayer for May 6th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word says, "Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help." - Psalm 22:11.
I have prayed that verse on hard days. Today is not a hard day. Today is full of small tasks and quiet work. But the verse still fits. There is a little trouble in the small things, and no one in this house to help with them.
The widow's mornings have taught me what it feels like to be alone with the work. I do not see help in front of me. So I turn to You. You are the only Helper I have.
You are not far, Father. I know that. This is not about where You are. It is about me feeling You near. I am not asking for something big or loud. I am asking to feel You the way I feel the warmth in the room when the heat comes on. No noise. Just warmth. Just there.
Be that near to me today, in the small things.
Amen.
