Grandmother’s Prayer for May 3rd

A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, nor is there any divination against Israel. - Numbers 23:23.

Father, Balaam could not curse what You had blessed. No spell, no curse, no dark plan can undo what You have done for Your people. That includes me.

This morning, there is a voice at my elbow. It whispers that I have not prayed enough. It says the people I love are beyond hope. It tells me my prayers do not work.

But that voice has no real power. It speaks, but You have not given it authority over me. Your blessing is on me, and no curse can reach where Your blessing stands.

Let me ignore that voice today. Let me live like a woman who knows the truth. You have blessed me, and nothing in this world or the next can take that away.

Amen.

  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
