Grandmother’s Prayer for April 30th

A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, You have helped me this far. That is what Samuel said long ago when he set up a stone to remember God's faithfulness. My mother said those words. Now I say them too. Through all these months, through the hard ones and the quiet ones, You have helped. The help did not always look like the help I asked for. But it always added up to the help I needed. Let me hold on to that tonight. April is closing. You have brought me through it. May and the months after will be helped too, by the same God, in His own way. Let me give You quiet praise tonight and go to bed in peace. Amen.

  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
