Grandmother’s Prayer for April 27th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father,
O death, where is Your sting? O grave, where is Your victory?
You raised Jesus from the dead. Because He lives, I do not have to fear the end. The sting of death is gone. The grave does not get the last word. You do.
I am not afraid the way I once was. I have seen too much of Your faithfulness. Let me live today without always looking over my shoulder. It is fine to look ahead. Help me look ahead the way a tired traveler looks forward to her own door at the end of a long trip.
The last word is not death. The last word is not the grave. The last word is Christ. And that word is good.
Amen.
