Grandmother’s Prayer for April 25th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, I come to You with Job's words on my lips. Even if He slays me, I will trust in Him. I have not lost what Job lost, but I have known smaller losses that still hurt. My body is not what it was. My house is quieter than it used to be. Some hopes I held have not come the way I wanted. Still, I choose to trust You, not in my own strength. Not in the things I hoped would stay in You. I have looked to You for a long time. That looking does not need to be loud or bright. It only needs to be steady. Whatever this week takes from me, do not let my trust go with it. My trust in You is older and deeper than this moment. Help me keep it right where it has always been. Amen.

- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
