Grandmother’s Prayer for April 22nd

A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, You laid help on a strong shoulder. Christ is that mighty One. He is strong enough to carry what I cannot. I do not need to find any more help. You have already provided it. This morning, I lay my load on Him again. The little anxieties that gathered overnight. The medical issues that need real care without my fear making them bigger. The relationships I cannot fix. The country I cannot save. I place them all on the shoulder that was made for carrying. He does not stagger. He is mighty. Let me receive the help You have for me. Let me live today like the load is where it belongs, which is on Him. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
