Grandmother’s Prayer for April 18th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, You met Thomas right where his doubt was. You did not scold him. You gave him exactly what he said he needed. You still do that for the rest of us, in the quiet ways. Your resurrection keeps reaching old believers.
You gave Thomas the proof, and then You gave the small command: do not be faithless, but believe. Both fit. Both were kind.
I have not asked to see Your wounds. But I have asked, in smaller ways, to feel that You are really here when my faith is thin. And You have met me. Not with thunder, but with the bread You broke on the road. Not with a shout, but with Your voice in the verse, speaking to me again and again.
So I say it with Thomas: I believe again.
You are patient with slow disciples. You have been patient with this one for decades. You are not in a hurry to change Your ways with me. Thank You for that.
Be not faithless this morning, but believing.
Amen.

- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
