Grandmothers
Grandmothers Prayer for April 11th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Psalm 22 describes Your Son's suffering: I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. Psalm 22:14. The picture is stark. Poured out. Joints undone. His body broken so that mine could be made whole. My old body has its aches and stiff places, but nothing like what He bore. I do not pretend to share His suffering. I am just quietly grateful for what it means. He poured Himself out so that I, in this kitchen, could be filled by Him. He drank the full cup of judgment. I get to drink the cup of fellowship with Him, and it is full of life. Let gratitude be the steady tone of this morning. Not loud. Just deep. The Lord was poured out. I am held together because He was undone. Amen.
