Grandmother’s Prayer for March 26th

A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, I come to You this morning with a soul that has already started to drift. The little worries are creeping in. Old hurts are playing again in my mind. Things that have not happened yet are already stealing my peace. Call me back, Lord. Return my soul to Your rest. You have been so good to me. I did not earn any of it. I just received it. Look at the mercies in this house. The breakfast on the counter. The Bible open in front of me. These few quiet minutes before the phone starts ringing. You have dealt bountifully with me. That is the surest fact in this room. Stop my imagining. Stop my inventing. Help me lean on what You have already done. Let this day start from a rested soul, even if my tired body has to carry it. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
