Grandmother’s Prayer for March 16th

A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Word says, If the Lord delights in us, He will bring us into this land. Numbers 14:8. Caleb and Joshua believed that when ten other spies did not. The giants were real. The promise was real. And Your delight was the truest thing of all. I need that same faith this morning. There are still giants in this land. This body is slowing down. The weakness I feel. The people I love who are fragile. The world feels unsteady under my feet. None of these is pretend. But none of them is the loudest thing. The loudest thing is Your delight in me. It is not earned. It does not rise and fall with my mood. If You delight in me, You will bring me into the next chapter, whatever it holds. You have brought me into every chapter so far. I will not give the giants the last word today. I will give the last word to Your delight. Let me walk in that delight in the small, obedient steps of this ordinary day. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
