Grandmothers
Grandmother’s Prayer for March 13th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word says that by one offering You have made me complete forever. Hebrews 10:14. That used to puzzle me. Made complete forever. And still being made more like You. One is finished. One is still going on. Both are true at the same time. My place before You is settled because of Jesus. But my heart and my habits are still being shaped by Your Spirit. So I do not have to be afraid of the parts of me that still need Your work. They do not push me away from You. And the place I already have in You does not mean those parts get to stay. Keep working in me this morning, without my fighting it. The patience I lose in the doctor's office. The quick judgment when I hear the news. The quiet sadness that comes in the late afternoon. None of these pushes me away from You. And none of them get to stay, not while Your Spirit is at work. Made complete and still being shaped, all at once. I rest in the first. I yield to the second. That is enough for this Friday morning. Amen.
