Grandmothers
Grandmother’s Prayer for March 12th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word says I am kept by Your power through faith unto salvation. 1 Peter 1:5. That word 'kept' is the one I lean on. You are the One doing the keeping. The faith to be kept was Your gift from the start. The salvation You are moving me toward is sure. I do not have to hold on with all my strength. I have seen older saints wear themselves out trying to hold themselves together when You already took that job. Let me rest in the kept. Faith is not gripping tight with a closed fist. It is an open hand, still receiving Your keeping. You have secured me before You ever asked me to live like it. And I have been trying to live like it, with plenty of breaks for a tired and wandering heart. Keep me this week. When I sit alone in the quiet, when I lie awake at night, when my mind wanders, and my heart feels shaky, remind me: You are still holding on. The salvation You have for me will be revealed. I will be there when it is. Not because I arranged it. Because You did. Amen.
