Grandmother’s Prayer for March 8th

A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Word says we must go through much trouble to enter Your kingdom. Acts 14:22. The apostles did not make the road look easy for the new churches. They told the truth. Trouble is not a sign that the journey went wrong. It is part of the road You set before us. I have known people who were surprised by hard times and walked away because they thought Your promises had broken. I do not want to be one of them. The kingdom is real. The entering is sure. Much of the verse is honest. I have had my share of much. My years have taught me to face what is still ahead without turning back. I am not walking alone. Other people are on this road too. Let me walk it with the people You have given me, with the courage Paul passed on to each new group of believers, with the kingdom in clear view ahead. The road will end at the door. The door will open. The much will have been worth it. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
