Grandmother’s Prayer for March 6th

A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Son came in a body You prepared. He did not turn away from it. He used it to obey You completely. You also prepared my body. Not the body of a younger woman. Not someone else's body. This one. With its stiff joints, its softening hearing, and its lingering aches that come with this season. And still it has room for kindness. You prepared this body for the obedience of this day. So let me offer it again this morning. These hands for the tasks they can still do. This voice for the word I should say. These arms for the people You put in my path. Your Son's body was offered once for all, and His sacrifice is enough. Let my body be a daily living sacrifice that flows from His. Help me not despise the body You have prepared for me at this season of its life. Amen.

  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
