Grandmother’s Prayer for March 2nd

A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Jesus said that rivers of living water would flow from the deepest part of a believing person. Not only from the strong seasons, but from the same person in every season. I have known the rivers. I have known the dry stretches, too. Your promise was not just for one or the other. It was made to the person who believes, all the way through. Let the rivers flow today, even if quietly. The grandchild I will see tomorrow does not need a flood from me. She needs a little fresh water at the right moment. She needs one true word from a Bible I have had more time to learn. She needs one act of attention that is unmistakably hers. The rivers can do that without my forcing them. Let me believe again this morning the verse the rivers are connected to. Let Your Spirit unblock the inner spring. Out of one old believing life, let a little water move into the day You have arranged. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray

Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.
