Grandmother’s Prayer for February 29th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father,
You have loved me with a love that never ends. You have drawn me to Yourself with kindness. That love is older than any calendar and longer than any year.
This year, the calendar gave me an extra day. I do not want to waste it on small things. Let me sit this quiet morning in the light and remember that Your love does not need an extra day to stay true. It was here before the first day was named, and it will be here when the last day is done.
You have drawn me. I cannot always see how, but I know it is true. Every good change in me started with Your kindness. The drawing was Yours. The change was Yours. My thanks are mine to give.
Let this rare, extra morning be simple and still. Let me see that the day, like all the others, is held by a love that never runs short.
I am drawn. I will be drawn.
Amen.
