Grandmother’s Prayer for February 20th

A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, You promise to guide me with Your counsel and later take me to glory. Psalm 73:24. I am glad to take both of those promises together. You guide me now. You will welcome me later. Both are from You. Both are true, no matter what the next months look like. My children are grown. My grandchildren have their own helpers. But I still need You to guide me in the small choices of an ordinary day. Whether to call the friend I have not talked to in months. Whether to push through the tiredness for the lunch invite or say no. Whether to write the letter I have put off. I do not need a burning bush for these things. I need Your gentle, quiet counsel. I have learned to hear it when I am still. Make me still this morning. Guide me through this day. And when the day comes to be with You, receive me. Both halves of Your promise are Yours to keep. You have kept them so far. I trust You with the parts still ahead. Amen.
