Grandmother’s Prayer for February 16th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, the love of God is poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, just as Your Word promises in Romans 5:5. Father, I read that verse this morning, and something stopped me. The love was already poured out. It was already given. It is not waiting for me to earn it or prove myself first. You gave Your Spirit to me long ago, and You did not give a little and wait to see how I would do. Your love has been at work inside me through every year since. Some days I felt it. Some days I did not. But Your love never stopped. Today I notice. Let me rest in the love that has been here all along. Let me stop acting like I am running low on it. Your Spirit has kept working in me even when I was busy with my own plans. Let me feel Your love this morning like solid ground under my feet. Help me carry it with me into the next phone call, into the next quiet look in the mirror. Your poured-out love has been here all along, and I am thankful that I see it today. Amen.
