Grandmothers
Grandmother’s Prayer for February 12th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, who can separate us from the love of Christ? - Romans 8:35. Paul wrote about trouble, hunger, danger, and death. I have not faced those the way the early church did. My list is smaller. Grief. Small failures. The slow wear of everyday life. But even my list could not pull me from Your love. Your love has held all the way to this kitchen and this chair. So today, before the year goes on, let it keep holding. The doctor's report. The grandchild who has not called. The money worry I try to hide. None of them is strong enough to break Your love. Your love is the bottom of my cup. Everything I pour in does not push it out. Help me drink what You give me today. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
