Grandmother’s Prayer for January 26th

A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Word says that those planted in Your house will still bear fruit in old age. Psalm 92:13. I have read that verse at funerals for women I loved. Now You are saying it to me while I am still here. Some days, I do not feel like I have much left to give. The mornings are slower. My memory is patchier. The people who need me are fewer than they used to be. But the verse is about the planting, and the planting was Your work. You put me in Your house long before I understood what that meant. Your hands placed me there. Your soil grew my roots deep. So if there is still fruit in this season, it will come from those roots. Not from my worry. Not from my striving. Let me bear what You ripen. Let me stop comparing my fruit to what younger trees are carrying. You planted me. You tend me. I trust the season You have me in. Amen.
