Grandmother’s Prayer for January 24th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Heavenly Father,
You told us to have faith in You. Mark 11:22. That is easier to say when the dishwasher works, and the doctor's report came back fine. Harder when any of those things go wrong.
I notice my faith is not fast anymore. It does not leap. It walks. Sometimes it shuffles. But it still goes forward. And that is the small proof I have that You have been at work in a quiet woman over more years than I would have guessed.
So today, let my small acts of faith look like this: asking You once for what I need, not talking myself out of it. Listening for Your answer in the Bible instead of in my own head. Trusting that for the people I will talk to today, You are at work even when I cannot see it.
That is enough faith. I do not need more than that.
Amen.
