Dads
Dad’s Prayer for December 30th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word says the end of a thing is better than its beginning. I had not thought about that until now, at the close of this year.
January was full of plans. December is full of what really happened. I do not always like how things ended. I see the book I did not finish. The habits I did not keep. The relationships I did not grow the way I hoped.
But You ask me to look again. What did end well? What got done, even if it was not perfect? What small habit has taken root by now that was not there last January? What relationship is even a little stronger?
Help me see what You finished this year, not just what I left undone.
Lord Jesus, You are faithful to complete what You start. This year is partly Yours. Show me Your work in it. Lead me into the new year with honest eyes and a thankful heart.
Amen.

- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
