Dad’s Prayer for December 27th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Word says the rush is spongy and hollow, a tall plant with nothing inside. I know what that looks like in my own life.

I have built hollow places into my walk. Habits I keep because they look right. Beliefs I claim without really thinking them through. Prayers I say without really praying. The hollowness does not show until something tests me, and then I buckle.

Fill those hollow places this week. Not with more busyness, but with what is real. A few honest prayers instead of many rehearsed ones. Real talks with the people closest to me instead of just small talk. Time actually with You instead of just time about You.

Lord Jesus, You are not hollow. Fill me with what is true. Let the inside of my life match what the outside shows. When the next test comes, let me stand because there is something real inside me.

Amen.

  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
