Dads
Dad’s Prayer for December 24th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word says that Jesus had everything, but He gave it up for us. He became poor so that we could become rich. Not rich with money. Rich in ways that matter. Rich because we belong to You.
I did not earn this. I am on the receiving end of a gift I could never pay for. Jesus left heaven. He took on a small life in a small town. He gave up everything so I could be part of Your family.
Most of my stress comes from forgetting this. I forget which side I am on. I forget that I have already been given what matters most.
Tonight, let me sit here as a man who has been made rich by someone else's poverty. Not rich in stuff. Rich in the ways that count. Loved by name. Forgiven. Welcomed home.
Lord Jesus, You became poor for me. Make me grateful enough to live tomorrow differently.
Amen.

- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
