Dads
Dad’s Prayer for December 15th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, in the story of Ruth, two women loved Naomi. Both had good reasons to go home. But one let go, and one stayed. Loving someone is one thing. Staying is another.
I admire Ruth. I worry I would have been Orpah. It is easy to say I love You. It is harder to stay when the road gets long and the day feels heavy.
Make me a clinger. Not in a scared, tight-fisted way. In a calm, this-is-where-I-belong way. This week will bring small hard moments. Not big drama. Just the plain, tired kind. In each one, help me stay. Help me not turn back.
Lord Jesus, You are the friend who sticks closer than a brother. Help me stick to You the way Ruth stuck to Naomi. Where You go, I go. Your people, my people. Your God, my God.
Amen.

- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
