Dads
Dad's Prayer for December 14th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word says Your people go from strength to strength. Not the same strength, but new strength for each season.
I keep waiting for the strength I had when I was younger. The energy that did not need a nap. The quick bounce-back after a hard week. The confidence that came easily. That season is over. I know it is not coming back.
But You promised a different strength for this one. Help me let go of what was and take up what is. Give me the strength of a man who has lived through hard years and learned to stand steady. Give me patience that grows each time I have to wait. Give me trust built on all the times I have seen You come through.
Lord Jesus, You strengthen the inner man. Build the new strength as the old fades. Let me move forward in this stretch of life, not backward.
Amen.
